Thomas Merris and Eliza Shergold (nee Wear)

THOMAS MERRIS SHERGOLD gt, gt gt grandfather was born 17th April 1807 at Salisbury, Wiltshire and baptised 3rd July 1807 at Salisbury. He died abt 1876 in Bristol. Possibly in King Street. Thomas was the son of THOMAS MERRIS SHERGOLD and HESTER SHERGOLD (nee FOX). For some unknown reason Thomas' parents were married at St Mary's, Taunton, Somerset.

In 1823 Thomas's father Thomas Merris Shergold of Salisbury gave his occupation as a writer. In 1831 he is described as a gentleman, Through his grandmother Elizabeth Shergold (nee Merris) Thomas was related to the wealthy Merris family of Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Thomas married ELIZA WEAR February 23rd, 1832 at Fisherton Anger, Salisbury, Wiltshire Eliz my gt, gt, gt grandmother was possibly baptised February 26th, 1808 in Fisherton Anger, Wiltshire; died after 1871 in Bristol. She was possibly the daughter of BENJAMIN WARE and ELIZABETH WARE (nee UNKNOWN) of Fisherton Anger, Wiltshire. Fisherton Anger is now part of Salisbury, Wiltshire.

(4) HARRIET SHERGOLD born abt 1841 in Bristol; died 1891, Bristol. Married as his first wife FREDERIC HALLS March 7th 1866 in
Temple Parish Church, Bristol. son of JOHN AVERY HALLS and MARY ANN HALLS (nee HILL) of Great Torrington, Devon.
