He was the son of THOMAS BANFIELD and ANN BANFIELD (nee SMITH) of Stapleton Parish, Gloucestershire. He married ANN GARLAND December 25th, 1825 at Mangotsfield St James, Gloucestershire. I'm not convinced that Thomas is the grandson of RICHARD BRANFIELD and ELIZABETH BRANFIELD (nee JONES) of Winterbourne, Gloucestershire
