He was the son of JACOB LUKE and JANE LUKE (nee BUCKETT) of Phillack, Cornwall.. He married JANE COCK October 30th, 1791 in Ventonleague, Phillack, Cornwall. Jacob was a pensioner of the Cornish Copper Company at Hayle, Cornwall.

JANE COCK, baptised November 22nd, 1766 in Gwithian, Cornwall; died in Phillack, Cornwall?. She was the daughter of JOHN COCK and ELIZABETH COCK (nee WILLIAMS) of Gwithian, Cornwall. (It would be good to have more evidence that this is the correct Jane Cock although it is almost certain that she is a member of the Cock family of Gwithian, Cornwall.

William and his wife Elizabeth Chinn were cousins through the Andrewartha family of Gwithian, Cornwall. Elizabeth's father was William Chinn (baptised April 9, 1769 St Felicitas, Phillack, Cornwall, he married Elizabeth's mother Mary Thomas, October 19, 1793, Phillack, Cornwall. Mary Thomas (baptised February 23, 1769) Gwithian, Cornwall, was daughter of Richard Thomas (baptised March 7, 1736/37, Gwithian, Cornwall) and his wife Grace Thomas (nee Roberts) (baptised October 31, 1736, Camborne, Cornwall) Richard Thomas was son of Richard Thomas and Mary Thomas (nee Andrewartha). Mary Andrewartha was daughter of John Andrewartha and Mary Andrewartha (nee Whitfar)

(5) Jane Luke, bapt January 16, 1803; married Joseph Paul November 25, 1821 in St Felicitas, Phillack, Cornwall.

Their daughter Mary Paul married her first cousin, Henry Luke son of Jacob luke and Joanna Luke (nee Wheare)
11 July 1854, Ventonleague, Cornwall. Both Mary and her husband Henry Luke died in Australia. They were my gt.gt.gt aunt and uncle

Jane and Joseph Paul (nee Luke) had amongst others also had a son Joseph Paul baptised March 11 1827 at St Felicitas, Phillack, Cornwall.

(6) Mary Ann Luke, bapt March 3rd 1805 St Felicitas, Phillack, Cornwall ; married Enoch Mitchell May 24th 1823 in Phillack, Cornwall. Enoch Mitchell died abt 1877 Phillack, Cornwall.

(In 1841 and 1851 Enoch and Mary Mitchell (nee Luke) are living next door to my ancestress Mary Uren nee Watts and daughter Elizabeth who was wife of her nephew gt, gt grandfather Jacob Luke

(7) Alice Luke, bapt July 9th 1807 Phillack, Cornwall; married Abraham Richards May 30th 1830 in Phillack, Cornwall. It seems that Alice must have died young and her husband remarried

Johannah Luke is my gt, gt, aunt and sister of gt, gt grandfather Jacob Luke later of Bristol. Abraham Richards is maternal uncle of Joannah Luke by marriage and brother of her brother in law Stephen Richards who had married her sister Mary Luke

(9) Samuel Luke, bapt May 9, 1816 Phillack, Cornwall; married Phillipa Smitham June 2, 1838 at St Felicitas, Phillack, Cornwall.
