on February 11th 1866 at Mangotsfield Parish Church, Gloucestershire.

age 22 years. By 1911 he was able to sign the census return. A bachelor
of Soundwell, Gloucestershire and working as a Collier.
His father Thomas Banfield was a Collier. Mary Ann also gave an X
as her mark and her age as 23 years. She gave
her profession as Collier of Soundwell, Gloucestershire. Her father
William Bateman was also a Collier.
The marriage took place in the presence of X the mark of George Banfield
(his brother) and Joseph Barnford.

and Mary ann Banfield both aged 69 and married for 45 years. Of their
11 children ten were still living!
In the household (which had six rooms) was also living their unmarried
daughter Sarah Ann Banfield aged 34 and a Coat Machinist
at a Boot Manufacturers. Alfred Banfield was working below ground
as a Colliery Housekeeper.
