Now in Bovey Tracey where she was born and her father belonged, when she was 10 she was apprenticed to Thomas Lane esq with whom she lived 4 years in Highweek, then the indenture was given up and she returned to her father in Bovey for 6 weeks, then to Elizabeth Mumford in Wolborough for 8 months, then she went to Plymouth with Thomas Conn, they went to Ireland and Gibraltar where they married 11 years ago, 6 years ago she left him on the Island of Alderny, she had a letter from him dated Aldeney 16 May 1799 but has not heard from him since, at Christmas 1798 she agreed to serve Joseph Gribble of Ashburton for a year, her husband is Irish and she has no certificate of marriage.
